Thailand Visa

To visit Koh Chang, the little Thai paradise for tourists, the first thing that foreign travelers need is a Thailand visa. To get a Thailand Visa, any traveler must have an international passport that has been issued and validated more than 6 months ago. With a proper Thailand Visa depending on the type of tour at Koh Chang, the stay can be relaxed and hassle-free.

Thailand Visa: The Types

There are a handful of types available for Thailand visa depending on the purpose of visiting the Kingdom. Thailand has a list of countries mostly from Europe and America citizens of which will not require a Thailand visa for tourism purposes. The full list is available here. Anyone visiting Koh Chang from these countries is allowed to stay with a Thailand visa for maximum 30 days (for many countries it is less than that) and that can be expended through the respective embassy with charges. People staying there with such a non-applied Thailand visa will not be permitted to work in Koh Chang or anywhere else in Thailand. For tourists of the other countries or for those who intend to do some work as well, there are tourist and non-immigrant visas of various kinds available.

Royal Thai Embassies and Royal Thai Consulates-General may issue the following types of visas:

  • Diplomatic Visa
  • Official Visa
  • Courtesy Visa

Thailand Visa: The Application and Requirements

For people who need to apply for a Thailand visa, will have to have a passport being valid for more than 6 months, a recent photo measuring 6x4 cm and have to submit a fee of about 1,000 Baht or 30 USD. This Thailand visa is for 30 days for tourists. If anyone wants to extend the trip at Koh Chang, an application for another 30 days can be submitted and it may charge about 2,000 Baht. The extension of any Thailand visa for tourists depends on the previous stay of the person. For people who need a Thailand visa for both holidays and works will have to go for non-immigrant visas as tourist visa does not allow work permit. Non-immigrant visa is of many types. It is suggested to consult with the embassy and other reliable sources before applying to a certain Thailand visa for extra or non-tourism purposes.

Thailand Visa: The Limits and Conditions

Many travelers visiting Koh Chang and many other beautiful destinations in Thailand fall in love with them and wish to stay over there being residents. Legally they cannot stay more than the approved period in Koh Chang with a tourist visa. If the decision of settling down is confirmed, they need to upgrade to a proper Thailand visa for non-immigrants and live in Koh Chang or in other desired places. There are also many tourists who wish to get back time to time to Koh Chang. They might get repeated Thailand visa for tourism’s sake that frequently but it is not guaranteed also. There have been many cases where such people, especially from neighboring counties to Thailand were denied such frequently repeated applications for Thailand visa as tourists.

Since Thailand is a country famous for its amazing tourism services in Koh Chang and other places, it is quite flexible in case of considering Thailand visa to the countries from where they get most of the tourists. But the Kingdom has its specific rules and regulations too and visitors should be well acknowledged and prepared according to that to respect the laws and decrees.
