Koh Chang Ferry

For traveling to the Koh Chang, your initial place of arriving is the Laem Ngop ferry terminals. There are 3 piers at Laem Ngop. The first pier which is known as the oldest one situated at the port of Laem Ngop, is not in use these days. The Second pier of Laem Ngop (Tha-chrome-Kang or also the-Laem-Ngop) is located most probably up to 700 meters to the west of Laem Ngop. The third and the last pair, Center-Pier (The Center-point) is situated approximately 3.5 kilometers in the Northwest.



These Piers are the servers, they provide all the services needed by the cars and passenger ferries. The minibuses, all the way from Bangkok reach at the Center-Point-Pier, it is also the arrival point of all the individually chartered taxis from Trat, the is not the end, the local pickup-taxis (Songthaows) head for Laem-Ngop Pier. Moving forward there is a further pier for car ferries situated at Thammachat Bay (Aow Thammachat), which is up to 15 kilometers west of Laem Ngop.


Despite of this, this jetty is a requirement for those who travel by their own or applicable for the rented vehicle. Koh Chang is best known for its numerous piers,whose locations are on the eastern side of the Island. Most of the jam pack traffic is treated at the two Dan-Kao-Pies.The boats start its journey from Laem Ngop and takes probably 45 minutes to reach Dan-Kao-Piers.


On the other hand, the car ferry takes round about 50-60 minutes to arrive at Dan-Kao-Ferry-Pier (Tha-Ferry-Dan-kao) which is located 400 meters southwest of Dan-Kao-Pier (Tha-Dao-Kao). The car ferry which begins it's cruising from Thammachat bay give a break at the Ko-Chang-ferry-Pier (Tha-Ferry-Ko-Chang) in the Sapparot Bay (Aow Sapparot) which is 3 kilometers northwest from the Dan-Kao-Pier.


Public pickup taxis are there to welcome you and take you along with them at Dan-Kao-Pier on Ko-Chang. The pickup taxis leave when there is a crowd inside (it is very tight internally). There is a possibility of non availability of taxis at Dan-Kao-Ferry-Pier. The one who reaches there without their own vehicles, have to walk about 400 meters to arrive at Dan-Kao-Pier.

At Dan-Kao-Pier, public pickup taxis are waiting to take you to the locations on Ko Chang. They leave when there are enough passengers (usually it's very tight inside!).
At Dan-Kao-Ferry-Pier sometimes there may be no taxis available. Everybody who arrives without his own vehicle may have to walk the 400 metres to Dan-Kao-Pier.

Klong Son Beach is good for:

Short description:

Klong Son beach (or Had Klong Son) is located on the north of Koh Chang. Nice bay at the very top of the island. Pure white sand stretch of beach, shaded with coconut trees. Klong Son gets very low numbers of visitors with the bulk of the backpackers and tourists alike speeding south enroute to Koh Chang's finer and more popular stretches of sand.

Short description:

Koh Chang's most famous stretch of sand, at over 2km long there's certainly room for everyone! Lined with bungalows, food stalls and shops this is one of the best beaches in all of Thailand.

Short description:

Situated on the somewhat less glamorous, northern side of the Koh Chang Island, Klong Prao isn’t all that much of tourist destination, especially for those who are in need of a true holiday experience of the exotic kind.

Short description:

Also known as Kai Bae Beach, this is the spot to catch a great sunset! A few small shops and food stalls are along the beach, a good spot to chill out away from the crowds at White Sands Beach.

Short description:

A well-sheltered bay with a small and quiet beach. It is a fishing community where residents still live in houses built on stilts and are connected by wooden bridges. There are a growing number of tourist shops, scuba dive outlets and seafood restaurants offering a good selection of seafood.

Short description:

There aren’t so much attraction in Salak Kok, but tourists can Kayak among the mangroves. Salak Kok Bay still has a fishing community that doesn’t change so much in many years, a great place to see the real traditional Thai community.
