Koh Chang Tourist police Office is located in Klong Prao village in the center of Koh Chang. Look for the Main Buddhist Temple and we are about 20m north of the main gate!
The Royal Thai Tourist Police Force was established to help tourists from foreign countries to be protected and have officers who can speak foreign languages to assist them. They are an arm of the Royal Thai Police and surprisingly allow foreign nationals to join and assist them as volunteers. So don’t be surprised when a Tourist Police Officer is actually a German or Canadian citizen.
With the introduction of foreign officers it been a boon to have team-members who can speak languages here on Koh Chang from Thai, to German, to English and even Japanese! With many members creating a link between the Thai and foreign community it has been a worthwhile endevour to make peoples travels and lives here much more accommodating and in the end safer.
The Koh Chang Tourist Police believes that you should have a safe trip and as such offers assistance with many things:
- Assistance with any criminal act: (ie: assault, accidents, robbery) We can interface with the local police and offer translation services.
- Disputes: We offer assistance with disputes between Thai nationals and foreign visitors (ie: merchant and civil disputes)
- Assistance with scooter and car accidents: We can help you to fill out forms, get help etc…
- Directions and Information: Don’t worry, we offer directions and information on what ever you need in Thailand!
