Koh Yak – Mystifying Hidden Beauty

Koh Yak belongs to the group of small islands of Koh Rang. It is a popular to some island tour plan packages dealing island hopping and some island-to-island activities like scuba diving and snorkeling. It is not inhabited by humans, unspoiled and remains in its natural form and state of being. It is home to natural plants, wild bushes and few boulders rising out on its western side. It has rugged coastal terrain but its sea surrounding encircling the whole island mirrors beauty and serenity.

Koh Yak’s treasured beauty lies under its surface. Its shallow depths are sanctuaries to underwater wildlife of different species. At its seabed rocks several fish and corals are found including anemones, puffer fish, clownfish, stingrays, clams, grouper and other marine plants of different colors. They are excellent subjects for underwater photography.  Scuba diving and snorkeling are just perfect activities in the shallow depths of Koh Yak Island. The lack of white sand beach for sun bathing is complimented by doing kayak tours around the island to get somebody toning.

Another good thing to do is to anchor your boat near the island and enjoy the fresh air and natural setting while reading your favorite book at the rhythm of the boat’s sways. Getting long naps or just laying your back on the couch of the boat and watching the blue horizon over the long stretched clear sea are mind refreshing. There are so many things to do in the confine of the island. You need to be imaginative and creative to experience fun and excitement. The island of Koh Yak as its name connotes as “giant” can be real big when those “little things” you do create great comfort and huge impact to your vacation away from pressures and monotony of urban living.
