There are about 50 islands in Mu Koh Chang National park. Among them is a small island named as Koh Thian Island. Koh Kara Island is located just adjacent to Koh Thian Island. Tourists can reach to this island through a boat.
The island is not an island in real sense as there are no white sandy beaches surrounded by tall coconut trees and may look like a piece of rock from a distant view. But this island consists of naturally grown trees and plantations which gives a picturesque look to it. The presence of rocks on the west side of the island enhances the artistic beauty of the island. The island is surrounded by crystal, clear and sparkling waters. On the eastern side of the island shallow waters are present which makes it a very good place for snorkeling. The real beauty of Koh Thian Island lies beneath the sea where there are beautiful and colorful coral reefs on the west side of the island giving a highly scenic view inside the sea. This place becomes breathtakingly beautiful when these coral reefs are fully grown.
Although many tourists may not find this island an interesting place especially those who give importance to comforts and luxuries of life but it can be an interesting place for tourists who want to have an adventure during their trip. Those people, who enjoy life in solace, can arrange for a visit to the island for some time as there are no camping facilities available. They can also have a few dives in water as it is not very deep. When visiting to the island one has to take care as during certain months in a year the Koh Thian Island is closed for coral rehabilitation.
