Koh Mai See Lek for Passing Holiday

The island of koh Mai See Lek is the largest island in the ko Chang Archipelago and the second largest island in Thailand. Koh Mai See Lek Island is rich in natural beauty and serves as perfect destination for tourists. Ko Chang means Elephant Island. The name is not due to presence of elephant but because of elephant shape of its headland.

 

The total area of koh Mai See Lek Island is 429 squares kilometers. The island is full of stone cliffs and high mountains. The highest mountain in this Island is Khao Salak Phet. It is 744 meters high and serves as the main water source of the island.  Koh Mai See Lek Island is the most beautiful island of Thailand with wide range of white sandy beaches covered with palm trees. This Island is less populated area.

 

This Island is a paradise for tourist. It is located on the gulf of Thailand’s eastern seaboard and approximately 310 kilometers from Bangkok and near the border with Colombia. This Island is discovered as a tourist place in 2000 and is far better and quieter than other islands of Thailand. The west of koh Chang Island is full of waterfalls, beaches and coral reefs.  The island is linked with Trat province airport and is 15 minutes away from the ferry terminal.

 

Koh Mai See Lek is blessed with marine as well as wildlife including a wide range of birds, snakes elephant and deer. Koh Mai See Lek is famous for its variety of cuisine and great nightlife. The season of koh Chang is similar to Bangkok. It rains heavily from June to October, Roasting hot between March and May and cool weather from November to February. So the best time for tourist is from November to February. Most of the hotels and suites are located at the west side of the island due to sandy beaches whereas the eastern side is less touristy.

Short description:

Klong Son beach (or Had Klong Son) is located on the north of Koh Chang. Nice bay at the very top of the island. Pure white sand stretch of beach, shaded with coconut trees. Klong Son gets very low numbers of visitors with the bulk of the backpackers and tourists alike speeding south enroute to Koh Chang's finer and more popular stretches of sand.

Short description:

Koh Chang's most famous stretch of sand, at over 2km long there's certainly room for everyone! Lined with bungalows, food stalls and shops this is one of the best beaches in all of Thailand.

Short description:

Situated on the somewhat less glamorous, northern side of the Koh Chang Island, Klong Prao isn’t all that much of tourist destination, especially for those who are in need of a true holiday experience of the exotic kind.

Short description:

Also known as Kai Bae Beach, this is the spot to catch a great sunset! A few small shops and food stalls are along the beach, a good spot to chill out away from the crowds at White Sands Beach.

Bangbao Bay is good for:

Short description:

A well-sheltered bay with a small and quiet beach. It is a fishing community where residents still live in houses built on stilts and are connected by wooden bridges. There are a growing number of tourist shops, scuba dive outlets and seafood restaurants offering a good selection of seafood.

Salak Khok Bay is good for:

Short description:

There aren’t so much attraction in Salak Kok, but tourists can Kayak among the mangroves. Salak Kok Bay still has a fishing community that doesn’t change so much in many years, a great place to see the real traditional Thai community.
