Excellent Island - Koh Laun (Koh Yak Lek)

Koh Laun koh yak lek is another beautiful island of koh Chang marine national park. It is locates at the south east of Thailand. The koh laun koh Yak Lek is also termed as koh Yak Lek.  The term Yak means giant, no one knows exactly why the called so but on the western side of the island there are couple of large boulders that are seems to be rising from the sea.


The term LAUN means bald, the island is named as Laun due to lack of vegetation growth on the island. Koh yak Lek is a small rocky island of koh Chang Marine Park. The easiest way to reach the island is by wooden boat. The Koh Laun koh Yak Lek Island is full of natural beauty. The island contains high mountains covered with lush green trees and stone cliffs. The area of Koh Yak Lek Island is not very big. The island is famous for its clean water. Koh yak Lek Island is blessed with clear deep blue sea and colorful fish in the sea enhances the beauty of the sea. The multi colored fish and corals are easily visible in the waters of Koh Yak Lek Island.


The main attraction for the tourist is the white sandy beaches of the island. The snorkeling tours and diving is one of the major attractions of the Koh Laun Koh Yak Lek Island for the tourists. The Koh Yak Lek Island is the perfect place for the tourists who are fond of snorkeling. Equipments required for snorkeling are also available at the island. There is another island that is located very near to koh Yak Lek Island and is called koh Yak. The weather conditions of the island are similar to that of Bangkok so the best time to visit the island is between November and February.

Klong Son beach (or Had Klong Son) is located on the north of Koh Chang. Nice bay at the very top of the island. Pure white sand stretch of beach, shaded with coconut trees. Klong Son gets very low numbers of visitors with the bulk of the backpackers and tourists alike speeding south enroute to Koh Chang's finer and more popular stretches of sand.

Short description:

Also known as Kai Bae Beach, this is the spot to catch a great sunset! A few small shops and food stalls are along the beach, a good spot to chill out away from the crowds at White Sands Beach.

A well-sheltered bay with a small and quiet beach. It is a fishing community where residents still live in houses built on stilts and are connected by wooden bridges. There are a growing number of tourist shops, scuba dive outlets and seafood restaurants offering a good selection of seafood.

There aren’t so much attraction in Salak Kok, but tourists can Kayak among the mangroves. Salak Kok Bay still has a fishing community that doesn’t change so much in many years, a great place to see the real traditional Thai community.
