Koh Klum is located in the National Park of Thailand. It is considered as one of the real islands due to its size. It is 4 km in length and is a real big island as compared to other small islands. Bangbao fishing village is just at a distance of 7 km towards south from Koh Klum. The major advantage of this island’s size is that this island was used to hide some French Naval battleships behind it in a conflict with the Thai ships in WW 2’s’ “Battle of Koh Chang”. Tourists have to use a motorized boat rather than a kayak to go there.
There are not many attractions for tourists on this island as it does not contain any facilities of well equipped guest houses or hotels but still it is a good fishing spot. Calm and crystal clear waters can attract many fishing lovers to this place. A small alluring beach is present on the northeastern corner and south eastern shore. The beach is actually a thin strip of white sand surrounded by tall trees. Corals beneath the crystal clear waters with fishes swimming near the shore line further give a beauteous look to this place. One may be confused by dead corals on the island which give a look as if there are many beaches on the island. The beach can also serve as snorkeling spot, although it is not a very good place for snorkeling.
There are no signs of human life on the island except that some local fisherman has built his small hut on the beach side on the south east side of the island. Koh Klum Island is worth visiting if tourists want to enjoy some time away from the crowds in activities like fishing and snorkeling.
