An Adventurer’s Favorite Place Koh Tun

Moo Koh Rang consists of a group of 12 islands to the west of Koh Mak in the National Park. To the south of Koh Tun Koh Rang Lek is a small baby island named as Koh Tun Koh Rang Lek. It is the main fresh water supplier to Koh Tun Koh Rang Lek Island as there is a small reservoir with a water tube which passes water to it. It is also the second largest of the 12 islands. The island is called by two names, Koh Tun is found in maps and the National Park called it as Koh Rang Lek. Its 400 meters away from the larger island Koh Rang.

The island of Koh Tun Koh Rang Lek is having a bird’s nest concession and serves as a major source for natural shelter to thousands of birds. The island is also a source for bat’s dung which is used as a great fertilizer. Another interesting thing about this island is that it serves as a nesting ground for many turtles. Many sea turtles lay their eggs on Koh Rang Lek.  These eggs are called as charmed eggs by the locals. Another natural asset of Koh Rang Lek is the oval shaped stones which are very famous for their smooth textures. Apart from natural habitat to birds, this island also serves as shelter for fishing boats.

It’s not worth visiting for many people as it does not have any restaurants, guest houses or other facilities for recreational activities like snorkeling. Moreover, the presence of a beautiful and larger island of Koh Tun Koh Rang Lek with all the facilities nearby makes it spurn island for many people. It has no beach at all so many tourists do not prefer to choose this place for visiting. It also does not have a diving spot.
