Koh Chang is located in Trat Province, Thailand. It is situated on the Gulf of Thailand's eastern seaboard, which is almost 310 km from Bangkok and close to the border with Cambodia. It is the third largest island in country, and the biggest island in the land of Mu Ko Chang National Park. The name means Elephant Island, which comes up with the shape of elephant of its headland, even though elephants are not local to the island. Currently, there are 8 or 9 villages on this island. It is a hilly island, with Khao Salak Phet being the biggest peak at 743 meters. The island is well-known for various waterfalls, rainforests and thriving coral reefs. The island has some parts of around 220 square kilometers.
A bit further to the south depends on Koh Klum. The 4 island cruise will pass about this island daily. The wonderful white sand beaches are on Koh Chang, and a person can swim for short time from these beaches to beautiful tropical and corals fish may be seen. Koh Wai is a better place for a day trip, as accommodation and food can be served from the resorts that located on the beaches.
