Attractions to See in Koh Chang

Koh Chang is widely known because it has unspoiled nature and the locals adhere to ways of life that are undisturbed. It is a popular holidaying location for everyone. Among the popular attractions you find amazing waterfalls and Shrine of Por Koh Chang which is highly revered. Kids are mesmerized by the illuminating fireflies found within the mangrove area and you can enjoy the sight of villagers going about their day to day activities by visiting the fishing villages which are located to the South.

 

Some of the popular attractions within Koh Chang Island include the following.

 

  • Fireflies Viewing: There are abundant fireflies and they illuminate the forests at night. These can be viewed from the mangrove and especially in the cooler months starting from November to January. In order to enjoy this fully, it is advisable to rent a boat and enjoy the experience which is magical to say the least.   • Fishing Villages: These give you first hand experience on the type of life lead by the locals. One of the places known as home to fishermen is Bao Bay and while here, you can also sample some of the best seafood.
  • Waterfalls: There are at least 5 waterfalls in Koh Chang and the most popular ones are Thanmayom Waterfall and Klong Plu Waterfall. These waterfalls offer a breathtaking view and are an ideal source of refreshment and fun.
  • Chao Por Koh Chang Shrine: It is located close to Ao Tahmmachat pier and is the most revered shrine. According to legend, hundreds of prayers and wishes have been answered at the shrine.

Klong Son Beach is good for:

Short description:

Klong Son beach (or Had Klong Son) is located on the north of Koh Chang. Nice bay at the very top of the island. Pure white sand stretch of beach, shaded with coconut trees. Klong Son gets very low numbers of visitors with the bulk of the backpackers and tourists alike speeding south enroute to Koh Chang's finer and more popular stretches of sand.

Short description:

Koh Chang's most famous stretch of sand, at over 2km long there's certainly room for everyone! Lined with bungalows, food stalls and shops this is one of the best beaches in all of Thailand.

Short description:

Situated on the somewhat less glamorous, northern side of the Koh Chang Island, Klong Prao isn’t all that much of tourist destination, especially for those who are in need of a true holiday experience of the exotic kind.

Short description:

Also known as Kai Bae Beach, this is the spot to catch a great sunset! A few small shops and food stalls are along the beach, a good spot to chill out away from the crowds at White Sands Beach.

Bangbao Bay is good for:

Short description:

A well-sheltered bay with a small and quiet beach. It is a fishing community where residents still live in houses built on stilts and are connected by wooden bridges. There are a growing number of tourist shops, scuba dive outlets and seafood restaurants offering a good selection of seafood.

Short description:

There aren’t so much attraction in Salak Kok, but tourists can Kayak among the mangroves. Salak Kok Bay still has a fishing community that doesn’t change so much in many years, a great place to see the real traditional Thai community.
